Role Overview

The Principal Statistician / Technical Lead will provide expert technical leadership and analytical guidance for the entire project. This position entails establishing the statistical methodology and analytical framework, maintaining consistency across various workstreams, and performing quality control with final approval on critical analytical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct all technical aspects of project items and analytical streams.
• Design and implement the statistical methods, analytical framework, and approach.
• Manage sampling, estimation, data analysis, and quality assurance procedures.
• Ensure all analytical outputs are statistically accurate, coherent, and ready for reporting purposes.
• Oversee quality controls over data handling, quantitative and qualitative analyses, indicators, dashboards, and reporting materials.
• Review and validate methods, assumptions, presented outputs including charts and tables, and overall findings.
• Provide the ultimate technical review and final approval of key project deliverables.
• Guide teams of statisticians, data scientists, analysts, and reporting professionals.
• Maintain alignment of outputs with standards in quality, accreditation, and measurement and evaluation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD degree in Data Science and Analytics, Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics or related discipline.
• Experience in teaching and academic administration.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and accreditation regulations within academics.

Experience

• At least 8 years in relevant roles demonstrating leadership in large-scale surveys or research programs.
• Expertise in measurement and evaluation methodologies.
• Proficiency in sampling, statistical estimation, and ensuring data quality.
• Experience conducting technical review and final sign-off of analytical outputs.
• Background working within higher education, academic quality, accreditation, or institutional evaluation environments.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary analytical teams.
• Capability to develop methodologies for national, institutional, or public sector reporting requirements.
