About the Role
Meta is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead technical vision and engineering excellence for major product systems within the XF APAC Products team. This AI-driven team focuses on commercial monetization, consumer app experimentation, and AI-powered business solutions. You will be responsible for reshaping Meta's product development workflows to enhance speed and efficiency and will set the benchmark for AI-native engineering practices across Meta's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and steer a multi-year technical vision and architecture for essential product systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and extensibility across Meta’s worldwide infrastructure.
- Lead transformative engineering projects that significantly uplift product quality, system performance, and developer productivity organization-wide.
- Create extensible technical bases and coding standards to ensure consistency across multiple engineering groups and platforms.
- Develop and advocate AI-native engineering workflows that enable cross-disciplinary teams to broaden scope and accelerate iteration.
- Tackle and resolve the most complex, systemic technical challenges spanning numerous systems and abstraction layers, creating generalized solutions to prevent widespread issues.
- Collaborate effectively with product, design, data science, and operations partners to set strategic priorities, balance technical trade-offs, and manage execution across teams.
- Mentor engineers by providing transparent technical advice, tailored coaching, and decision-making frameworks for complex engineering challenges.
- Define new metrics and data-driven principles for large-scale cross-team initiatives aligned with organization goals.
- Influence technical design in related engineering domains through comprehensive architecture reviews ensuring cohesion in components and data flows.
- Lead engineering programs and procedural improvements that elevate reliability, privacy, security, and overall product quality within the engineering community.
Essential Qualifications
- Over 12 years of experience in software engineering focusing on large-scale product systems, architecture, systems reliability, and cross-organizational leadership.
- Proven ability to define and execute multi-year technical roadmaps balancing immediate needs and long-term architectural integrity across multiple teams.
- Expertise in identifying and solving broad systemic technical issues, developing principles that prevent entire categories of problems.
- Experience influencing technical strategy across multiple engineering organizations and cross-functional partners through proposals, design assessments, and stakeholder management.
- Skilled in applying AI tools and workflows to accelerate engineering productivity, expand technical capabilities, and improve system design or product results significantly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing large-scale system migrations or platform renewals within complex, mature technical environments involving multiple teams.
- Continual skill development in AI, including prompt engineering and agent orchestration, keeping pace with new AI technologies.
- Demonstrated significant technical impact in a specific domain, influencing engineering practices beyond a single organization.
- Commitment to responsible and ethical AI application, including risk assessments, bias mitigation, and quality assurance.
- Proven ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and deliver measurable performance enhancements.
- Experience formulating engineering standards, architectural frameworks, or technical patterns widely adopted throughout large engineering organizations.
- Expertise in defining and implementing reliability, privacy, or security best practices at the ecosystem level, collaborating with legal and compliance teams.
