Role overview

The Planning Manager will steer all scheduling, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting work across the full project lifecycle. This position is focused on keeping project timelines practical, tracking them accurately, and ensuring they stay in line with contractual milestones while also supporting the Project Director and the client with strategic planning input.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, update, and track the master programme for the project from design stage through construction and final handover.
  • Create baseline schedules, recovery plans, and short-term look-ahead plans in detail.
  • Measure progress against the approved programme and flag possible delays and risks early.
  • Perform schedule reviews and critical path analysis, then suggest corrective actions to reduce impact.
  • Work closely with design consultants, contractors, and client-side representatives to align planning activities.
  • Examine contractors’ baseline programmes, revised schedules, and periodic progress submissions.
  • Produce weekly and monthly progress updates, dashboard summaries, and executive-level presentations.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and contractual commitments throughout delivery.
  • Assist with claims assessments linked to extensions of time, delays, and programme impacts.
  • Maintain adherence to project controls procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Take part in project meetings and provide planning guidance to senior stakeholders.
  • Coach junior planning engineers and help embed strong planning practices across the project team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant field.
  • 12–15 years of planning experience overall, including at least 5 years at Planning Manager level.
  • Substantial background in hospitality, mixed-use, or major building developments.
  • Prior experience in a PMC or consultancy environment is required.
  • Solid understanding of project controls, scheduling techniques, and earned value management.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Practical experience reviewing contractor schedules and handling project reporting.
  • Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and stakeholder management capability.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region is preferred.
