People Operations Specialist

Role Overview

Blackthorn is seeking a dedicated People Operations Specialist responsible for spearheading recruitment and supporting key people operations functions. This hands-on role involves managing the entire hiring lifecycle across the organization while collaborating with the VP of People Operations to oversee onboarding, HR systems, and daily HR operations. Ideal for someone who thrives on relationship management and operational precision.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, from initial intake with hiring managers to negotiating offers.
• Source and evaluate candidates, maintaining a healthy pipeline with the assistance of an applicant tracking system (ATS), aligning closely with hiring managers on role requirements and timelines.
• Ensure excellent candidate experience at every recruitment stage.
• Monitor recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, pipeline status, and sourcing effectiveness, regularly updating leadership.
• Facilitate smooth onboarding and offboarding for employees.
• Maintain comprehensive employee records and update HRIS systems accurately.
• Support benefits administration and respond to employee inquiries regarding policies and programs.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws across applicable US states and possibly internationally.
• Identify and implement improvements for recruitment and HR operational workflows.
• Collaborate with the VP of People Operations to develop scalable HR processes supporting company growth.

Candidate Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of recruiting experience, combined with some exposure to HR or people operations.
• Demonstrated capability in independently managing full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, and closing candidates.
• Proficient with HRIS and ATS tools.
• Exceptionally organized with keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to build trust with both hiring managers and candidates.
• Able to work autonomously within a remote-first, distributed team environment.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience recruiting within B2B SaaS or Salesforce environments.
• Knowledge of Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) and multi-state employment compliance.
