Role Overview
Arabia Insurance Company is hiring a Property & Casualty Underwriter in Abu Dhabi to evaluate and price P&C insurance risks within defined underwriting authority. The role focuses on reviewing applications, setting suitable terms, and making sure every decision follows internal guidelines and regulatory standards while supporting profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite Property & Casualty risks according to company guidelines and assigned authority limits.
- Study insurance applications by assessing exposures, coverage needs, and policy wording.
- Set pricing, terms, and conditions that support both competitiveness and profitability.
- Manage moderately complex cases and escalate matters beyond authority to the Team Leader or Senior Underwriters.
- Process quotations, renewals, and endorsements on time while meeting SLAs and service expectations.
- Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with applicable regulations and company compliance rules.
- Keep complete and accurate records of assessments, approvals, and underwriting decisions.
- Take part in audits and quality reviews that support risk control and process improvement.
- Follow the company Code of Conduct and apply ethical underwriting practices consistently.
- Work with brokers, agents, and distribution partners to understand client requirements and tailor solutions.
- Help identify new business opportunities while maintaining a balanced and healthy portfolio.
- Track market developments, pricing shifts, and competitor actions to improve underwriting approach.
- Support the preparation of quotations and proposals for profitable business acquisition and retention.
- Update underwriting files and records so decisions remain traceable and accessible.
- Share observations on market trends, claims information, and underwriting results with the Team Leader.
- Join underwriting meetings, strategy discussions, and training sessions to strengthen technical capability.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in Insurance Studies, Business Administration, or a similar discipline. Progress toward a formal underwriting qualification such as Cert CII, or an equivalent certification, is also desirable. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in the insurance sector, specifically within an underwriting department.
