About the Position

Due to a team member's promotion within UGL, we offer an exciting opportunity for a skilled Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Processing Team. This permanent full-time role operates on a hybrid schedule, with two days each week in our North Sydney office and three days working remotely from home. Our office provides modern amenities including well-equipped kitchens on every floor, espresso machines, and comfortable communal areas ideal for socializing or eating lunch. Our close-knit team often celebrates occasions and enjoys sharing homemade international dishes when present together.

The core payroll system revolves around SAP, integrated with ServiceNow, Navigo, and Kronos platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver payroll services efficiently and in full compliance with regulations.
  • Execute payroll processes through SAP accurately and punctually.
  • Manage approved requests and resolve internal payroll queries via ServiceNow.
  • Generate payslips, produce payroll reports, and conduct weekly reconciliations.
  • Establish strong partnerships with employees and other stakeholders to address payroll issues and foster a positive service experience.
  • Contribute to continuous process enhancements, participate in system testing, and assist in payroll-related projects.

Role Overview

The Payroll team at UGL is divided into three functional areas: data management, payroll processing, and payroll accounting. In this role, you will be part of the payroll processing segment responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment to all staff. Your duties will include processing payroll, managing income protection and workers’ compensation claims, handling manual payments, uploading payslips, submitting payment summaries through Single Touch Payroll (STP), and calculating termination and redundancy entitlements. Interaction with recruitment and People & Culture teams to address payroll questions is expected.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated experience as a Payroll Officer managing medium to high-volume, complex payroll environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), allowances, Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA), FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) arrangements, and specific client pay agreements.
  • Proficient in SAP S/4HANA with desirable exposure to ServiceNow platforms.
  • Strong Excel capabilities ranging from intermediate to advanced levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving aptitude combined with a customer-focused approach.
