Role Summary and Responsibilities

The Optician position is a full-time, on-site role based at the Novena Singapore location of Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre. The incumbent will assist the ophthalmologists and clinical teams by performing clinical tasks including refractive assessments, visual function evaluations, and supporting pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing laser vision and cataract procedures, among others. Utilizing diagnostic tools such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), corneal topography, biometry, pachymetry, and visual field analyzers, the Optician will document clinical data with precision and provide patient education regarding eye conditions, potential treatments, and post-treatment guidelines. Collaboration with multiple healthcare professionals and administrative personnel is essential to ensure smooth clinic operations and deliver optimal patient experiences. Engagement in ongoing professional development, clinical quality audits, and improvements in practice operations is expected.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a professional optician diploma and current registration with the Optometrists and Opticians Board (OOB).
• Competence in fundamental clinical opticianry skills such as refraction.
• Willingness to undergo training for specialized diagnostic instruments including OCT, corneal topography, biometry, pachymetry, and visual field analysis.
• Strong communication abilities to educate patients effectively about eye health and assist in informed decision-making.
• High accuracy and attention to detail when documenting clinical findings.
• Capability to work effectively in a dynamic and specialist clinical environment collaborating with optometrists, ophthalmologists, day surgery nursing staff, and administration.
