Role overview

This position sits within the United Utilities department and is based at the Worsley head office, with occasional work required at the Lingley Mere office in Warrington. You will be part of the noticing team, working closely with the programme team on the New Connections contract.

The role plays an important part in improving customer satisfaction metrics, specifically the D-MeX regulatory measure. A key focus is to support the Network Plus and United Utilities teams in delivering better customer outcomes through accurate notice and permit management, strong coordination, and timely escalation of issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Arrange and secure the necessary permit information so customer and client work order deadlines are achieved.
  • Use Street Manager and Aurora systems confidently to manage notices and permits.
  • Work with contract area managers and supervisors to make sure permits are followed correctly and durations are clearly understood.
  • Keep systems updated with accurate progress information, record issues promptly, and escalate where needed.
  • Request TTROs and coordinate associated third-party requirements such as parking suspensions, bus stop suspensions, and road closures in real time.
  • Raise purchase orders through the procurement team to cover third-party invoices linked to TTROs.
  • Take part in daily and weekly programme calls, monitoring progress and ensuring teams operate within the correct permit conditions.
  • Work with local authorities and client representatives as part of day-to-day coordination.
  • Submit notice and permit requests on time, open and close street work notices or permits, and complete final registrations when needed.
  • Spot street works compliance issues early and escalate them appropriately.
  • Review and respond to Section 74 charges and fixed penalty offences.
  • Prepare and share daily jeopardy reports.
  • Follow up on outstanding actions and unresolved issues.

Skills and experience required

  • Previous experience in the utilities sector.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Street Manager and Aurora systems, together with a solid understanding of statutory requirements.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and digital tools.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Highly organised and able to work to strict deadlines.
  • Good understanding of operational activity within a field-based environment.
  • Excellent planning and coordination ability.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.

Compensation and benefits
