Role Overview

This on-site, full-time position in Saudi Arabia is centered on running and watching over micro tunneling machinery and related equipment used in underground pipeline installation. The operator will prepare the equipment, help align and launch the tunneling system, and make sure boring work follows the required project drawings and specifications.

Key Duties

• Operate and continuously monitor micro tunneling machines and supporting equipment during pipeline installation work underground.
• Set up machinery before use and assist with alignment and launch of the tunneling system.
• Confirm that tunnel boring progresses accurately in line with project requirements.
• Inspect equipment routinely, carry out basic upkeep, and escalate mechanical problems to the supervisor or maintenance team.
• Check slurry systems, guidance systems, and other operational controls throughout the shift.
• Record machine readings, operating data, and other relevant parameters for site reporting.
• Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and crew members to keep operations coordinated.
• Follow safety rules, environmental standards, and site procedures at all times.
• Support troubleshooting efforts to reduce delays and avoid unnecessary downtime.
• Take part in daily site briefings and work according to project timelines.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with micro tunneling equipment or similar trenchless machinery, along with solid mechanical understanding.
• Ability to read technical drawings, alignment information, and project documents.
• Working knowledge of survey and guidance systems used in tunneling operations.
• Awareness of construction-site safety, confined-space hazards, and safe use of heavy equipment and PPE.
• Basic skills in maintenance and fault-finding for mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical equipment.
• Good communication and collaboration skills for working with mixed teams on site.
• Background in civil construction, utilities, or pipeline projects is preferred, especially in trenchless or tunneling work.
• Readiness to work rotational shifts, longer hours, or changing site conditions when required.
• High school education or a relevant technical/vocational qualification in mechanical, civil, or industrial studies; extra training in tunneling or trenchless methods is a plus.
• Ability to follow instructions, maintain accurate logs, and adapt to new tools or technology on site.
