Mechanical Project Engineer

Overview

ISS International SpA is hiring a seasoned Mechanical Project Engineer for its client in the fertilizer sector in Mesaieed, Qatar. The role focuses on disciplined project execution, coordination, and reporting within a large industrial environment.

Role purpose

This position is responsible for organizing and driving projects through planning, prioritization, execution, monitoring, and control in a structured and efficient way. When assigned as a project coordinator, the engineer will align multiple trades, team members, and stakeholders to keep work moving smoothly. The role also contributes as a discipline specialist on various projects, delivering the mechanical scope and related outputs.

Project and engineering duties

The engineer must manage assigned project activities to achieve the required quality, schedule, scope, cost, design intent, specifications, and risk, while also meeting health, safety, energy, and environmental expectations. Work must be carried out in line with project procedures, delegation of authority, and the project execution manual.

The position also requires active communication with the project requester, internal and external stakeholders, team members, and representatives from production and maintenance to support effective project execution.

Reporting and control

The role includes preparing regular project updates covering cost, schedule, cost phasing, forecasting, accruals, KPI tracking, and scorecard variations. The engineer is also expected to participate in periodic review meetings and help maintain cost discipline across assigned projects.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university is required. The ideal candidate will bring more than 12 years of direct, relevant discipline experience in large EPCC projects within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or fertilizer industries. Experience with ammonia and urea fertilizer plants or projects will be considered an added advantage.
