Market Surveillance Analyst (UAE National)

Position Overview

A leading financial markets institution in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Market Surveillance Analyst to join their Exchange Operations team. This role is pivotal in overseeing trading activities to ensure the integrity of the UAE capital markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor daily market trading to detect unusual or suspicious activities that may indicate abuse.
• Analyze orders and trade executions to uncover possible market manipulation or regulatory violations.
• Conduct initial investigations and detailed analyses of flagged trades.
• Supervise activities across various marketplaces and asset categories as needed.
• Report and escalate suspicious transaction patterns per internal and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining a secure, compliant, and transparent environment for trading.
• Collaborate extensively with Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Technology, and Operations teams.
• Engage effectively with key market participants including brokers and investors.
• Contribute to risk management efforts related to trading and surveillance operations.
• Offer recommendations for enhancing surveillance products, services, and processes.
• Identify and implement ways to boost efficiency and efficacy in trading and monitoring systems.
• Ensure strict adherence to company policies and applicable regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Preferably over 4 years of relevant experience in securities, stock exchanges, capital/financial markets, market surveillance, or trading operations.
• Proven experience in monitoring or analyzing trading activities is highly valued.
• Deep understanding of financial market structures, securities, and trading mechanisms.
• Familiarity with market conduct rules, trade surveillance, and compliance or regulatory frameworks is a plus.
• Possession of CFA-related credentials or compliance certifications is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical abilities focusing on detecting abnormal trading trends and behaviors.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to operate effectively within regulated environments.
