Overview
Join a vibrant, diverse, and cooperative team at Wellington Water, where you will lead a skilled group of Land Development Engineers focused on 3 Waters services and land development consenting. This role combines hands-on technical responsibilities with leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic planning. The position is full-time, based in Petone, working 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, recruit, and nurture a high-performing engineering team by coaching, mentoring, and fostering a strong team environment.
- Manage technical reviews of 3 Waters infrastructure relating to new and future developments while actively participating in technical tasks.
- Oversee and guide Resource Management Act (RMA) and Building Act consenting processes, resolve escalations, and ensure quality assessments.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with councils, developers, consultants, and internal departments to facilitate smooth land development workflows.
- Collaborate closely with local council consenting teams to ensure transparency, consistency, and prompt decision-making.
- Contribute to business and financial planning activities and lead continuous improvements within the team.
Candidate Profile
- A tertiary qualification relevant to engineering, planning, asset management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing technical teams.
- Extensive senior-level expertise in 3 Waters, land development, infrastructure projects, or regional planning.
- Thorough knowledge of RMA and Building Act consenting procedures, along with solid civil engineering expertise.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trustworthy relationships with diverse stakeholders.
