Role overview

Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, working through Serco, is hiring a full-time Lifeguard for The Quarry Fitness and Swimming Centre in Shrewsbury. The role supports a friendly, inclusive leisure environment that helps local people enjoy safe and active swimming and fitness facilities.

Working pattern and pay

This is a 37-hour per week position, with shifts scheduled across Monday to Sunday and including early and late shifts. The salary is up to £24,675.63 per year, along with a range of excellent benefits.

What the role involves

As a Lifeguard, you will play a key part in keeping pool users safe and making sure the centre runs smoothly. You will be trusted to supervise pool activity, support customers of all ages, maintain a clean and well-organised pool environment, and handle pool equipment safely. When required, you will also respond quickly in emergency situations and act to protect lives.

Skills and experience needed

The centre is looking for someone with strong swimming ability, a high level of alertness, and the confidence to stay calm under pressure. You should be comfortable working with people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, and you need to bring excellent customer service skills from a leisure setting or another customer-facing role. A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (Royal Life Saving Society) or an equivalent qualification is required.
