Laboratory Technician - Geotechnical Testing

Role Overview

We are looking to hire beginner to intermediate Laboratory Technicians to join our team for the Ōtaki to North of Levin initiative. This position is a full-time, fixed-term contract lasting 12 months, based in the Kapiti area with the requirement to travel to Manakau, outside Ōtaki. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates wanting to start a career in geotechnical and construction materials testing, or for experienced technicians seeking to expand their testing expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out diverse laboratory tests on geotechnical and construction materials such as soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete samples.
• Comply with IANZ accreditation standards and adhere to project management system protocols.
• Input, process, and report data with precision and accuracy.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ensure top-quality project delivery.
• Bring enthusiasm and positive energy to motivate and inspire the team towards shared objectives.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a degree or diploma in Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physical Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Hold a full, clean New Zealand driver's license.
• Physically capable of handling samples weighing up to 25 kilograms.
• Demonstrate excellent digital literacy and data management skills.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Maintain attention to detail, accuracy, and quality standards.
• Be hardworking, self-driven, with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaborating effectively with teams.
• Efficiently manage project goals and timelines.
• Exemplify excellent communication skills and flexibility to adapt to dynamic work conditions.
• Prioritize workplace safety.
• Customer service oriented with a focus on client satisfaction.

Additional Information

This role may require physical effort including handling samples up to 25 kg, early starts, late finishes, and occasional overtime.
