Role Summary
We seek a Junior Software Engineer with a passion for building scalable and reliable software products. In this role, you will develop and maintain services facilitating seamless customer interaction with our products through APIs, authentication, rate limiting, and more. Collaboration with multiple engineering teams to enhance service exposure and observability will be a key part of your work.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain APIs, services, and systems in collaboration with Telnyx engineering teams.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in production environments across multiple layers including gateway, authentication, network, and applications.
- Partner with engineering colleagues to build large-scale features both for internal use and external customers.
- Enhance engineering practices by improving tools, processes, observability, and system reliability.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 1 to 2 years of professional experience in software development using either object-oriented or functional programming languages, with a preference for Elixir.
- Have an enthusiasm for functional programming and aspire to master Elixir.
- Apply thoughtful decision-making, balancing the need for rapid progress with long-term optimizations.
- Experience working with relational database systems in large-scale environments.
- Understand the complexities of concurrent and distributed system programming.
- Have solid understanding of microservices architecture, including common patterns and pitfalls.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, Prometheus, Grafana, and RabbitMQ.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices, actively sharing knowledge with peers.
- Exhibit strong teamwork and the willingness to prioritize collective success.
Additional Skills Valued
- Experience designing or operating customer-facing APIs, gateway services, authentication systems, or internal platforms.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced, product-focused setting.
- Prior exposure to Envoy proxy technology is a plus.
