Role Summary
This position is ideal for individuals eager to advance from project coordination to independently running projects. The Junior Project Manager will assume full responsibility for delivering projects, managing subcontractor relationships, controlling schedules, budgets, and ensuring overall project execution. You will collaborate with experienced Project Managers while handling medium to large-scale industrial construction assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage project timelines, key milestones, and deliverables from project start to finish.
- Anticipate scheduling risks early and work with site leadership on recovery plans.
- Conduct regular site inspections to validate quality, safety standards, and scope compliance.
- Maintain detailed daily logs, progress updates, and photographic records.
- Oversee daily operations of subcontractors and tradespeople including attendance, scope fulfillment, and performance metrics.
- Participate in site meetings and handle distribution of minutes and action items.
- Facilitate onboarding, orientations, and ensure compliance documentation for all personnel on-site.
- Coordinate communication between health and safety teams, site leaders, and head office.
- Monitor project spending against budgets and approve subcontractor invoices accordingly.
- Assist in identifying and processing change orders, RFIs, and document controls.
- Support tender preparation and contract management when needed.
- Coordinate procurement activities, material deliveries, and on-site receipt of supplies.
- Handle logistics related to mobilization such as travel arrangements, accommodations, and equipment staging.
- Engage with suppliers and vendors to avoid delays due to material shortages or issues.
Candidate Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or comparable disciplines. Equivalent combination of education and industrial construction experience considered.
- Between two to five years of experience in construction coordination or project management roles.
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities effectively within a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Valid driver's license with dependable transportation.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Hands-on experience with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
- Capability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial construction practices and terminology.
- Experience working with change orders and budget management processes.
- Possession of safety certifications such as WHMIS, Construction Safety, or First Aid.
