Overview
Hodson Bay Group is hiring a Junior Graphic Designer to join its Marketing Team based in Athlone, at Hodson Bay Hotel in County Roscommon, Ireland. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Group Content & Creative Manager and is suited to someone at the start of a design career who wants practical experience across hospitality brands and group-wide initiatives.
The position offers the chance to contribute to the visual identity of several well-known hotels, including Hodson Bay Hotel, Galway Bay Hotel, Sheraton Athlone Hotel and Hyatt Centric Dublin. Work will span digital, print and on-property creative output, along with campaigns, events, promotions, guest communications, social media assets, signage and brand-focused projects.
The organisation is looking for a recent graduate or early-career designer with creativity, strong attention to detail, and a portfolio that demonstrates design ability and potential. The role emphasises learning, mentorship and hands-on exposure in a busy creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a broad mix of marketing visuals for both print and digital use.
- Produce artwork for social media, email campaigns, promotional activity and website content.
- Support the development of brochures, menus, event materials, signage and internal communications.
- Work alongside the marketing team on campaigns involving design, digital, social media and PR.
- Help preserve consistent branding across all guest and customer touchpoints.
- Prepare final artwork files suitable for print and digital production.
- Check layouts and artwork carefully to maintain accuracy and high quality.
- Contribute to photography, video and other creative content work when needed.
- Coordinate with outside vendors such as printers and signage suppliers.
- Keep up with current design trends and contribute fresh ideas.
- Assist with wider group projects and new business ventures as required.
Requirements
- A qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field.
- A strong portfolio showing originality, design thinking and careful attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Good understanding of typography, layout and visual communication principles.
- Ability to stay organised and manage several tasks at once.
- High attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Openness to feedback and a mindset of continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Recent internship, college project or freelance experience is helpful but not essential.
- Basic exposure to video editing, motion graphics or photography is desirable but not required.
- An interest in hospitality, travel, tourism or lifestyle brands would be an advantage.
