Job Developer / Industry Placement Specialist

About the Role

WEST of Windsor Inc. is looking for a dedicated Job Developer / Industry Placement Specialist to operate within the Skilled Trades department, serving the Windsor-Essex community. This full-time position, working Monday to Friday for 35 hours per week—with occasional evenings and weekends as required—offers a salary range between $28 and $30 per hour. The role focuses on assisting individuals who face employment barriers, guiding them through job development, career counseling, and connecting them with employer networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Forge and maintain strong partnerships with local employers and community organizations to expand job opportunities, including those not publicly advertised.
• Coordinate workplace placements such as job trials, internships, and part/full-time roles tailored to client skills and employer requisites.
• Match clients effectively to available roles that align with their skills and aspirations, aiming for long-term employment success while fulfilling placement and employment targets.
• Inform employers about employment incentives, financial assistance programs, and the benefits of embracing workforce diversity.
• Monitor placements through site visits, resolve challenges, and provide continuous support to both clients and employers to ensure job retention and career progression.
• Perform consultations and needs assessments to identify client requirements and assist them in achieving career goals.
• Offer personalized career guidance covering job searching, resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace culture adaptation.
• Deliver workshops and group sessions on job readiness skills such as time management, communication, and interviewing techniques.
• Support clients post-placement with coaching aimed at sustaining employment and advancing their careers.
• Organize guest speakers, job fairs, industry tours, and facilitate connections to mentors and coaches for client development.
• Maintain detailed and accurate client records, document progress and assessments, and comply with program guidelines.
• Input data and generate reports reflecting client outcomes, service efficacy, and achievement of placement targets.
• Create and facilitate workshops to engage multiple stakeholders and promote WEST’s employment services.
• Develop community partnerships to bolster employment possibilities and contribute to outreach and networking to increase client and employer participation.
• Participate in events, meetings, and activities beyond regular hours when required to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a University Degree or College Diploma in Social Science, Human Resources, Social Work, Business, Career Development, or a related field; a Career Development certification is advantageous.
• Two to five years of relevant work experience in job development, employment counseling, or equivalent roles.
• Proven success in attaining employment-related goals and targets.
• Proficiency in employment counseling, engaging employers, and handling work placements.
• Understanding of the Canadian labor market, employment trends, and workplace regulations.
• Availability to work across multiple WEST locations as organizational needs dictate.
• A valid driver's license and personal vehicle are mandatory for fulfilling role responsibilities requiring travel.
