IT Field Network Engineer (Network & Data Center Hands-on Support) - Germany

Role Overview

This position involves providing on-site support for network hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting within enterprise campuses and data centers primarily located in Japan, while based remotely from Germany. The engineer will handle physical layer tasks such as server racking, fiber and copper cable termination, deployment of network devices, and patch panel maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, setup, and problem resolution for network components on-site in Japan.
• Execute physical tasks including mounting servers, terminating cables (Cat6, fiber), and managing network switches and routers.
• Respond promptly to network outages or degradation, utilizing rapid troubleshooting and escalating when necessary.
• Coordinate with remote engineering teams to implement network configuration updates and recording all changes meticulously.
• Support vendor-specific hardware deployment and ensure compliance with change control protocols.
• Participate in post-incident reviews and offer recommendations to minimize recurrent issues and enhance SLA compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient in Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS operating systems.
• Experience with network cabling, including Cat6, SFP, and LC/SC connectors.
• Knowledge of routing and switching protocols such as VLANs, OSPF, and BGP.
• Expertise in data center racking and cable management best practices.
• Familiarity with network monitoring platforms like PRTG, SolarWinds, and Nagios.
• Understanding and practical experience in ITIL incident management frameworks.
• Japanese business communication skills at N3 level or higher are essential for interaction with client teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA certification or equivalent networking certifications.
• Hands-on experience working with Arista or HPE network switches.
• Knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools such as Nlyte or Sunbird.
