Role overview
Avint is looking for an experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) at senior level to take ownership of security governance across information systems and applications. This position focuses on running the full Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle, directing assessment and authorization efforts, and helping keep systems in continuous Authority to Operate (ATO) status.
What you will do
- Apply cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices consistently across IT security services.
- Build and maintain programs that help users understand and follow security policies and procedures.
- Create system security contingency plans and disaster recovery plans to strengthen resilience.
- Support remediation efforts based on findings from inspections and evaluations.
- Prepare status updates and brief clients on the security condition of systems and programs.
- Use RMF expertise to perform security activities for information systems and applications.
- Identify, implement, assess, and manage security controls through the RMF process.
- Lead security assessment and authorization work to sustain 100% ATO status.
- Drive cybersecurity audits, inspections, assessments, and order-processing support.
- Ensure systems meet client expectations and relevant industry standards.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent, verifiable professional experience.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in information assurance, cybersecurity engineering, or ISSO/ISSM work.
- Strong working knowledge of RMF and NIST security controls.
- Demonstrated success guiding systems through assessment and authorization processes.
- Experience writing enterprise documentation such as contingency plans and disaster recovery plans.
- Background in coordinating formal audits, technical inspections, and orders processing.
- High attention to detail and solid organizational ability.
- Leadership and project management skills for tracking remediation work and inspection timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and executive briefings.
- U.S. citizenship required; dual citizenship is not permitted.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and keep DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance.

Additional information
The stated salary range for this role is $110,000 to $125,000.
