Inbound Logistics Specialist - Dammam

About the Role

The Inbound Logistics Specialist will oversee and streamline inbound logistics activities for the company’s facilities in Saudi Arabia (ASDI Plant) and the UAE (DIP Plant). This position involves close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery of raw materials and packaging supplies. The role requires detailed management of all logistical components, including customs clearance, shipment scheduling, and financial documentation, to meet delivery and budgetary targets in alignment with company strategies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Work jointly with the Supply Chain team to verify and confirm purchase orders with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance to guarantee adherence to planned shipping schedules.
• Negotiate freight charges strategically to achieve cost savings.
• Select the most effective transportation modes and courier routes.
• Organize shipment schedules, oversee logistical workflows, and handle all required shipping paperwork.
• Maintain precise digital and physical storage of shipment documents such as manifests, invoices, and bills of lading.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders to maintain competitive pricing and minimize demurrage costs.
• Review contracts and supplier terms periodically to ensure favorable conditions.
• Lead initiatives to reduce logistical expenses without sacrificing service quality.
• Keep detailed reports tracking shipping performance, expenditures, and timelines, while updating management regularly.
• Ensure all reporting complies with regulatory and company standards.
• Collaborate with the Supply Chain Planning team to prepare monthly financial accruals.
• Administer and utilize the inbound logistics tracking software (Shipsy) to maintain up-to-date information and ensure stakeholder compliance.
• Partner effectively with internal departments to synchronize logistics with broader business objectives.
• Support and encourage teamwork and open communication within the logistics group.

Performance Metrics

• Comply with on-time delivery targets for all inbound shipments.
• Manage logistics budgets against actual spending effectively.
• Achieve consistent year-over-year reductions in logistics expenses.
• Successfully implement cost-saving measures that meet or exceed goals.
• Ensure accuracy and punctuality of logistics reports.
• Maintain data integrity and visibility in the Shipsy system for leadership.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years in logistics roles, preferably with experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, or shipping companies.
• Good understanding of import/export regulations and documentation.
• Knowledge of port operations and customs and tax clearance procedures.
• Awareness of global and cross-cultural logistics challenges.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
