Heat Treatment Operator

Overview

The Heat Treatment Operator is tasked with supporting heat treatment processes for gas turbine components. The role emphasizes safe, precise execution of procedures while embodying Lean manufacturing principles to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The operator also plays an integral role in continuous improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and maintaining workplace organization and cleanliness aligned with 5S standards.

Key Duties

• Carry out heat treatment operations in line with authorized work instructions, process specifications, and engineering directives.
• Interpret and utilize work instructions and quality documentation for precise process execution.
• Document process and measurement data accurately as required.
• Operate heat treatment machinery, including furnaces, fixtures, thermocouples, and hand tools, following safety protocols.
• Inspect components before and after treatment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Follow Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets strictly to sustain consistency, safety, and efficient workflow.
• Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization following 5S principles.
• Apply Lean manufacturing concepts daily and contribute actively to problem diagnosis, root cause analysis, and corrective measures.
• Identify and suggest continuous improvements targeting safety, quality, cycle time, waste reduction, and process flow.
• Enhance standard work procedures, visual management, and line organization to strengthen Lean implementation.
• Support the team in raising line efficiency, operational effectiveness, and overall shopfloor productivity.
• Work within takt time, cycle time, and standard flow requirements to meet production targets.
• Utilize shop floor digital systems such as ELM and SmartShop as necessary.
• Comply with all company quality, safety protocols, and standardized procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma, technical college credential, or equivalent practical experience.
• Between zero and three or more years in technician, manufacturing, heat treatment, or industrial roles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of diffusion heat treatment processes.
• Experience with solution and aging heat treatment methods.
• Background in handling gas turbine components or similar precision aerospace/industrial parts.
