About the Role

Southern NSW Local Health District is inviting applications for the position of Health and Security Assistant based in Goulburn. Both permanent full-time and part-time options are available, with full-time roles requiring 38 hours per week. The annual remuneration for full-time employment is $68,858.49, calculated at $34.73 per hour.

This position is classified under the Health and Security Assist category. Candidates without a Security Licence will be categorized and remunerated as Wardspersons.

Role Overview

The Health and Security Assistant is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, providing frontline support to ensure safety, security, and a welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff within a rural healthcare setting. Responsibilities include assisting clinical staff with patient care, ward support, transporting patients within the facility, performing cleaning tasks, and fulfilling security duties as directed.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient-centered care delivery.
• Assist with ward tasks and patient portering within the hospital campus.
• Carry out cleaning responsibilities as required.
• Perform security duties under clinical staff supervision.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a current NSW Security Licence (Class 1A minimum) and a Nationally Recognized Training (NRT) First Aid Certificate with commitment to maintain both; or willingness to obtain these within the first three months of employment.
• Understanding and support of person-centered care principles in healthcare.
• Experience communicating effectively with diverse populations, demonstrating friendliness and respect.
• Physical ability to perform duties including patient lifting and transferring.
• Proven skills in conflict resolution and managing aggression.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Familiarity with Work Health and Safety legislation, Security Industry Act, and competency in following protocols, instructions, and policies.
• Possession of a current unrestricted driver's licence with readiness to travel, including long distances and overnight stays as needed.

Additional Information
