Position Overview
The General Manager for the New York flagship location will be responsible for the overall financial results, customer experience, and team dynamics. This hands-on leadership position demands active presence during operational hours, including evenings, weekends, and busy periods. You will oversee both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations by leading a variety of teams and collaborating closely with the Assistant General Manager, Floor Managers, and Facilities Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate managers and staff to provide outstanding guest experiences and smooth daily operations while ensuring they have the necessary resources.
- Work alongside FOH and BOH team members on the floor to manage guest flow, staffing, and service quality.
- Make informed decisions regarding labor allocation and resolve operational matters in real-time across all teams.
- Promote the museum's core values, fostering a positive workplace culture and encouraging team members to align with the mission.
- Support professional development and operational accountability through continuous feedback and coaching.
- Conduct daily briefings and weekly team meetings to coordinate priorities and prepare for peak times or special events.
- Ensure effective communication between FOH and BOH, resolving issues such as cleanliness, supplies, or food preparation promptly.
- Drive financial targets by managing sales, programming, inventory, and margins; collaborate with relevant departments to control costs and maximize revenue.
- Optimize staffing schedules to meet operational demands efficiently, particularly during busy seasons.
- Analyze guest flow and operational data for trend identification and strategy adjustments.
- Manage inventory carefully to minimize waste and ensure timely supply for food, retail, and service operations.
- Oversee event readiness, coordinating staffing and resources for special occasions and high-traffic intervals.
- Maintain excellent guest-facing environments, ensuring standards in ticketing, queue management, and services remain consistently high.
- Utilize guest feedback and data insights to continuously improve guest satisfaction levels and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years in management roles within physically customer-facing environments.
- Minimum 5 years leading entire business units or sites, overseeing both FOH and BOH functions.
- Established experience managing large teams, including over 100 exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Strong command of labor management, inventory control, financial analysis, and sales performance in high-volume settings.
- Proficient understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Experienced in handling complex operations involving people, financials, and procedures.
- Familiarity with POS, inventory systems, internal communication tools, Google Suite, and ADP Time and Attendance software.
- Relevant certifications such as Food Handler, ServeSafe, and TIPS or equivalent alcohol service training.
- Availability to work during weekends, evenings, holidays, and peak business periods.

- Competent problem solver able to take immediate operational control during peak or special events.
- Excellent communication skills facilitating cross-department collaboration and execution of strategic and operational plans.
- Quick adaptability to learn new technologies, including inventory, scheduling, and POS systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is between $115,000 and $130,000 annually, based on experience, combined with an annual bonus and stock options.
