About the Role and Candidate

This Financial Controller position is a vital role within the finance department, providing an opportunity to significantly influence a fast-paced, growing organization. The ideal candidate will be proactive, commercially minded, and adaptable with a focus on efficiency. Preferably, the candidate will be a qualified finance professional with experience in SMEs or startup environments. Effective engagement with management and the willingness to undertake hands-on tasks when necessary are key. The role offers the chance to devise and implement your own strategies, growing and evolving alongside the business to help fulfill its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and punctuality in financial reports.
• Prepare management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet reviews, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets management, VAT returns, and corporation tax provisions.
• Manage the annual external audit process and keep financial records audit-ready year-round.
• Supervise accounts receivable, supplier payments, invoicing, and other transactional finance duties.
• Assist with payroll, statutory filings, pension management, and finance-related employee administration.
• Oversee banking operations, supplier portals, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Provide daily leadership and guidance to the Accounts Assistant to maintain efficient finance operations.
• Collaborate closely with the Group Finance Director to uphold financial controls and support business aims.
