About the Role

Join the National Fire Ant Eradication Program in its vital mission to protect Queensland from one of Australia's most invasive and damaging pests—the fire ant. This role gives you the chance to be outdoors, stay active, and make a meaningful contribution to your community and environment.

As a Field Officer, you will be part of a dedicated team conducting field surveillance, managing treatments, and supporting property management activities across South East Queensland. Work locations include Burleigh Heads, Berrinba, Wacol, Virginia, Laidley, and Mutdapilly, with the possibility of covering surrounding areas depending on needs and vacancies.

Your daily duties will involve inspecting properties, applying pest control bait treatments, engaging with the public, and maintaining accurate field records. Expect to work primarily outdoors across a variety of landscapes and weather conditions, including uneven and steep terrain. This position suits individuals who enjoy a physically active role and outdoor work with diverse daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual monitoring and bait application to aid fire ant control efforts.
  • Safely access and work on residential, rural, commercial, and other types of properties.
  • Gather precise data and complete daily reports and documentation.

  • Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, promoting a safe environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet common operational objectives.
  • Offer courteous and professional in-person interactions with property owners and the public.

What We Are Looking For

  • Individuals with a positive mindset eager to learn and dedicated to quality workmanship.
  • Dependable team players who communicate respectfully and clearly.
  • People who enjoy hands-on, outdoor activities and can work in diverse weather and terrain.
  • Commitment to accurate recordkeeping and following established procedures.
  • Holders of a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to undertake any necessary training and certification as part of the role.
