About the Role
The position aims to oversee the daily operations and upkeep of all machinery and plant facilities, ensuring seamless and secure functioning to meet production goals while adhering to safety and quality parameters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute daily tasks following established policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to maintain consistency and control during shifts.
- Stay updated on best industry practices and participate in ongoing improvements of systems, processes, and procedures.
- Perform monitoring and maintenance activities to evaluate equipment status by observation and sensory checks, promptly reporting any performance issues.
- Manage and control field equipment in compliance with SOPs, SOCs, checklists, and maintain the health of HSEF-related equipment with proper record filing.
- Assist the shift superintendent in overseeing process parameters and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve compressor-related problems efficiently.
- Conduct handover and takeover processes of equipment with maintenance teams while adhering to Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) guidelines, and workplace safety protocols.
- Collect samples for laboratory testing and conduct gas measurements such as LEL and O2 using portable detection instruments.
- Maintain detailed and consistent operational documentation in shift logs; manage inventory of log books, formats, spares, and consumables.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety by handling hazardous materials appropriately, segregating and minimizing waste, and maintaining fire and safety equipment.
- Serve as a first responder during field emergencies and participate as a member of the Auxiliary Fire Squad.
- Understand and manage rotary machine seal systems including significance of level and pressure in seal pots.
- Comprehend compressor lubrication systems and the critical parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Monitor statuses of LO/LC valves and know the locations of various field instruments.
- Support risk assessments regularly during handover, takeover, and processing tasks, and conduct toolbox talks before jobs to reinforce safe work behavior.
- Perform process-related activities following safety procedures within designated operational limits to prevent process failures and reduce accident risks.
- Document and report near-miss events to analyze patterns and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain compliance with the latest safety and management systems including IMS, ISO, TQM, OMS, PSM, QCC, and 5S methodologies.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures such as LOTO, nitrogen gas safety, and line breaking protocols.
Educational Qualifications
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
Experience
- Up to 3 years of experience as a field executive involved in site operations is required.
- Desired knowledge includes unit operations, permit procedures, understanding plant hazards and controls, basic process knowledge, emergency response, problem solving, team management, communication, and self-discipline.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Understanding and monitoring of workplace incident types such as fatalities, lost work cases, restricted work cases, medical treatment cases, and first aid cases.
- Awareness of fire incidents both process-related and non-process.
- Management and classification of process safety incidents (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
- Identification and prevention of near-miss incidents and unsafe acts or conditions.
- Compliance with OMPro task completion and adherence to operation and quality standards.
- Ability to track incidents related to operational or quality variances and violation of operational discipline (OD).
- Regularly conduct field rounds and maintain records in job registers.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the plant environment.
