Job description

About the Cayman Registry

The Cayman Registry, a division of Cayman Maritime established in 1903, operates as a Tier 1 Shipping Registry within the Red Ensign Group. It maintains its main office in the Cayman Islands, with a European Regional Office in Southampton, UK, and has technical support and representation globally.

Role Overview

The Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI) invites qualified companies and individuals to provide technical maritime services on behalf of the Cayman Islands Government. These services primarily include conducting surveys, audits, and inspections of merchant vessels and super yachts, overseeing the construction of new super yachts, issuing statutory documentation, and delivering Flag State support.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate a robust background in Class or Flag State maritime services with significant knowledge of international maritime conventions, regulations, and codes. Proven expertise is especially required in new super yacht construction.

The ideal candidate will hold a Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture degree (or an equivalent qualification) and have prior experience as a Marine Surveyor with a recognized Classification Society or Flag State authority. Chartered Engineer status registered with the Engineering Council and membership in a reputable professional organization are highly desirable.

Additionally, the Authority seeks experts in specialized maritime domains such as ship stability, alternative fuels, and radio communications. Interested parties in these specializations must provide a detailed CV highlighting their expertise, qualifications, and relevant experience.

Application Process

Prospective applicants should submit a formal Letter of Application along with comprehensive details of their maritime experience via email to the Human Resources department at the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands.

Additional Information

Only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. The Authority extends thanks to all applicants for their interest and effort.
