Role Overview
The Excellence Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the creation and execution of the Department of Energy’s Excellence Framework. This includes fostering a culture centered around excellence, conducting self-assessment, performing thorough analysis, and benchmarking initiatives. Additionally, the specialist analyzes feedback reports to pinpoint areas needing improvement.
Key Duties
- Support the development and deployment of the Excellence Framework to oversee the excellence improvement cycle, from identifying Areas for Improvement (AFIs) to tracking related initiatives.
- Partner with the Section Head to develop and deliver awareness sessions on excellence principles and the framework.
- Compile and prepare reports and presentations as required.
- Assist applicants with submitting entries for the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award.
- Analyze detailed reports from the AD award office, collaborating with various directorates to recommend improvement initiatives.
- Provide coaching and training assistance across all directorates.
- Offer guidance and support to directorates/sections aiming to attain business excellence through recommendations and assistance.
- Help in updating and developing initiatives addressing improvement areas within the Department of Energy’s divisions.
- Design mechanisms for benchmarking objectives, key results (OKRs), targets, policies, and best practices locally and internationally.
- Facilitate workshops that effectively communicate corporate policies and excellence programs.
- Document and disseminate lessons learned and valuable knowledge enhancing DOE’s pursuit of excellence.
- Educate all directorates on business excellence subjects.
- Lead relationship building and networking efforts with strategic and business partners to support benchmarking and adoption of best practices.
- Work closely with the excellence team to create, execute, and assess initiatives for model excellence adoption throughout DOE.
- Help conduct organizational assessments evaluating the penetration of excellence practices across DOE.
- Contribute to developing assessment reports highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and actionable recommendations.
- Engage in knowledge transfer, training, and coaching related to excellence methodologies within DOE.
- Support stakeholders from various directorates in launching transformational projects aimed at enhancing excellence, performance, and profitability.
- Collaborate with directorates to gather and analyze data to identify improvement opportunities and implement innovations using statistical and analytical techniques.
- Implement requirements of the Abu Dhabi Award Excellence Program (ADAEP) by managing self-evaluation initiatives and assisting in preparing award nominations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Strategy, Strategic Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience, including organizational consulting, project management, and the development, delivery, assessment, and implementation of programs.
