Role overview

This Darwin-based full-time opportunity is for an Estimator working on remediation, building, and façade projects. Relocation can be considered. The position focuses on preparing, reviewing, and delivering competitive tenders valued at up to $15 million, with accuracy and timeliness being critical.

Key responsibilities

• Create precise cost estimates for tender submissions.
• Complete material take-offs and build detailed bills of quantities.
• Support the preparation of construction methods, schedules, and submission packages.
• Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates.
• Assess risk and opportunity, including cost escalation considerations.
• Examine drawings and engineering requirements to identify cost-saving alternatives where appropriate.
• Hand over fully documented tenders with clear traceability and support for pre-contract and delivery teams.
• Raise RFIs with clients when further clarification is needed to ensure the tender package is complete.
• Present estimates to senior leaders for approval before submission.

Candidate profile

• Background in estimating within Defence, construction, and/or building remediation is preferred.
• Good commercial judgement with strong financial awareness.
• Professional manner, initiative, confidence, and solid interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks within fixed deadlines.
• Comfortable explaining and defending estimates to senior management.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
