Role Overview

The Estimation Manager will work collaboratively with internal engineering and project teams to gather detailed technical information and Bill of Quantities. This role focuses on preparing and reviewing cost estimates for Transmission projects under Transmission Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), including substations of various voltage levels and associated high voltage equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Centre of Excellence, Engineering, and Project teams to obtain technical and quantity details.
  • Develop and review cost estimates for 765kV, 400kV, 220kV, and 132kV AIS/GIS Substations, Transmission Lines, and EHV category Transformers and Reactors.
  • Analyze and evaluate costs, including arranging EPC bids and technical discussions within stakeholder groups.
  • Prepare precise costing for major materials such as Transformers, Reactors, Towers, and Conductors using established templates.
  • Issue EPC enquiries during the bidding phase and coordinate technical clarifications.
  • Assist Business Development by providing accurate cost estimates to support bidding activities.
  • Calculate IEEMA price variations for steel, conductors, ICT/SRs, substation equipment, and services.
  • Conduct market research and gather intelligence relevant to estimation and procurement cases.
  • Engage in merger and acquisition activities evaluating projects from technical and commercial perspectives.
  • Identify and implement improvements to estimation processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Create and maintain standardized cost templates and procedures tailored to business needs.
  • Compare cost estimates against procurement data to assess estimate accuracy.
  • Utilize and update standard costing templates ensuring consistency and improvements.
  • Mentor and support junior team members to boost team performance and growth.
  • Promote teamwork, effective communication, managing interpersonal conflicts, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Identify training needs for team members to foster continuous development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in cost estimation, procurement management, or commodity management roles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and IEEMA software for estimation and price variation calculations.
