Position Overview

This opportunity, managed by a partner company in the United States, invites an Environmental Lead to shape environmental strategies for major infrastructure projects involving cutting-edge technology. The role encompasses leading environmental planning, permitting, and stewardship endeavors throughout complex development programs, ensuring a balance between regulatory requisites, business aims, and community concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute environmental initiatives that enhance permitting processes, foster community confidence, and produce significant ecological benefits.
Conduct thorough environmental due diligence and risk evaluations for potential sites, addressing issues such as wetlands, water bodies, flood zones, endangered species, cultural sites, stormwater, air quality, noise, and construction impacts.
Transform environmental analysis into practical advice that guides investment decisions, scheduling, and development tactics.
Supervise environmental investigations including Phase I & II Site Assessments, archaeological and cultural resource reviews, and environmental property assessments.
Set environmental standards and monitor compliance among developers, utilities, engineering teams, and third-party collaborators.
Evaluate and verify environmental studies, mitigation strategies, and construction methods for alignment with environmental goals.
Formulate and oversee permitting approaches involving federal, state, and local agencies covering environmental reviews, wetlands approvals, stormwater permits, air and water regulations, and waste management.
Manage compliance programs during construction and initial operations, focusing on stormwater control, spill prevention, hazardous substances, and emerging environmental challenges.
Collaborate with teams in development, engineering, energy, site selection, and community relations to integrate environmental considerations throughout project phases.
Identify enhancements to environmental practices, minimize risks, and develop scalable procedures for upcoming infrastructure endeavors.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum of 8 years' experience in environmental permitting, infrastructure development, energy, construction, or managing large-scale projects.
Deep knowledge of navigating complex environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
Proven expertise in managing environmental consultants, developers, contractors, and regulatory bodies on prominent projects.
Strong insight into how environmental risks influence financial results, timelines, and organizational reputation.
Experience designing mitigation strategies that reconcile compliance obligations with business goals.
Understanding of environmental assessments, permitting processes, construction compliance, and sustainable practices.
Capability to implement standards, enforce partner accountability, and make informed decisions regarding environmental risks.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of explaining complex environmental matters to technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable working independently while engaging with multiple teams collaboratively.
