Effluent Treatment Plant Operator

Overview

Gujarat Flotex Private Limited is hiring a skilled and committed Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operator at their Chhatral, Gujarat manufacturing site focused on textiles and home furnishings. This role demands ensuring uninterrupted wastewater treatment, adherence to environmental regulations, and maintaining detailed operation records.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the complete operation of the ETP including processes such as collection, equalization, neutralization, aeration, clarification, filtration, and sludge processing.
• Ensure reliable functioning of equipment like pumps, blowers, agitators, dosing setups, and filters.
• Regularly monitor treatment parameters including pH, TSS, TDS, COD, BOD, DO, turbidity, and flow rates; conduct water quality tests; and maintain operational logs.
• Handle and dose chemicals such as lime, alum, PAC, polymers, caustic, acids safely and efficiently while tracking consumption.
• Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance on ETP machinery, identify mechanical or electrical faults, and liaise with maintenance teams for repairs.
• Operate and manage sludge thickening, filter press, and dewatering tools, ensuring sludge disposal aligns with Pollution Control Board norms.
• Ensure compliance with Gujarat and Central Pollution Control Board standards for treated water discharge, maintain statutory records and assist in regulatory audits.
• Adhere to all Environment Health & Safety (EHS) protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment and immediate reporting of hazards or equipment issues.
• Keep comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly operational and compliance documentation up to date.

Qualifications and Experience

• ITI or Diploma in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or similar technical fields.
• At least 5 years' experience operating an Effluent Treatment Plant within textile, dyeing, chemical, process, or manufacturing industries.
• Additional certification in ETP operations or environmental management is advantageous.

Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in wastewater treatment technology and chemical dosing procedures.
• Experience with pumps, blowers, motors, sludge management, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, GPCB and CPCB discharge requirements.
• Excellent record keeping and documentation skills.

• Good communication, collaboration skills and flexibility to work in shifts and emergencies.
