About the Role

ILUMIN Education, a San Francisco Bay Area based educational consulting firm, is seeking a remote Educational Consultant dedicated to assisting high school students in discovering their purpose, acquiring essential skills for success, and confidently progressing toward their goals. The firm specializes in expert college admissions counseling and impactful life coaching.

In this position, you will engage one-on-one with students and their families, guiding them through the complexities of college admissions and supporting their long-term achievement. Your efforts will focus on fostering an environment of care and support, helping students develop kindness, maturity, and bravery, while breaking down admission objectives into clear, manageable steps.

Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly meetings with students and parents to review academic and extracurricular progress.
• Oversee academic schedules, standardized test preparations, and extracurricular activities for up to 45 students.
• Provide comprehensive guidance to senior students through all stages of college readiness, including college selection, essay development, and application completion.
• Lead quarterly workshops to teach student skills such as study techniques and time management.
• Maintain constant, transparent communication with students and their families.
• Participate in quarterly marketing presentations to promote services.
• Research extracurricular opportunities including volunteering, summer programs, and special projects.
• Support students in brainstorming and revising essays for college and summer programs.
• Guide students undertaking independent projects like nonprofits, small businesses, or community workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong passion for mentoring and coaching students from 8th to 12th grade facing academic, extracurricular, and personal challenges.
• At least two years of experience in college counseling, advising, or consulting.
• Ability to manage multiple relationships with parents and students simultaneously.
• Proficiency in managing expectations and advising families during high-pressure situations.
• Excellent English communication and writing skills.
• Graduated from a top 25 university.
• Confidence in leading marketing presentations and student workshops.
• Previous experience working in a selective university admissions office.
