Role Overview
As a strategic member of the People & Culture team, the Diversity and Inclusion Manager will lead AUT's efforts in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). Reporting to the Director of Organisational Development, this permanent, full-time, onsite role at AUT's city campus involves partnering with faculties, directorates, and external stakeholders to design initiatives that encourage inclusive leadership and equitable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve AUT’s DEIB Plan.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to embed inclusive leadership university-wide.
- Create and facilitate learning programs and workshops to enhance cultural intelligence and inclusion skills.
- Offer expert guidance on diversity, equity, and inclusion across organizational activities.
- Lead university commitments and accreditations related to DEIB such as GenderTick and Pride Pledge.
- Support staff networks and organize significant diversity and inclusion events.
- Build partnerships internally and externally to share best practices and foster improvements.
- Use data-driven insights to assess DEIB initiatives and guide future priorities.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced DEIB professional who combines strategic insight with practical execution capability. Essential attributes and experience include:
- Proven experience leading DEIB strategies in sizable or complex organizations.
- Strong knowledge of cultural intelligence, inclusive leadership, and organizational development.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging learning and development courses.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influence skills at all organizational levels.
- Competent coaching and facilitation skills to nurture inclusive team environments.
- Effective project management handling multiple strategic initiatives.
- Strong communication, sound judgment, and autonomy.
- Dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion, supporting AUT’s Te Aronui journey.
Additional Information
- Salary range: NZD 110,000 to 131,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Work hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
