Role Overview
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing distribution team performance and activities to efficiently meet customer delivery expectations while maximizing company resource utilization.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive the implementation of Distribution Process Optimization (DPO) within the department.
- Assess and manage departmental machinery and human resources.
- Oversee development and performance management of self and team members.
- Lead the team in formulating a strategic plan aligned with the annual Depot Business Plan.
- Review and update master data, including business descriptions, process mapping, service levels, and routing.
- Plan distribution schedules and set service level agreements (SLAs), especially for high-volume periods.
- Develop and control the annual departmental budget encompassing fixed and variable costs.
- Set and cascade team and individual objectives.
- Plan for peak demand periods through sizing and resource management.
- Maintain customer and driver master data accuracy.
- Conduct biannual evaluations of customer service, analyze feedback, and implement improvement measures.
- Organize trade visits and enforce compliance standards.
- Manage the full beer return process.
- Monitor safety standards and enforce critical behaviors.
- Supervise third-party logistics contractors, aiming to enhance their performance.
- Ensure supply chain transfers comply with planned schedules.
- Review SLAs regularly, attend related meetings, and address any noncompliance issues with stakeholders.
- Lead weekly performance meetings to evaluate prior week trends and plan corrective actions.
- Coordinate and analyze contractor payments.
- Manage departmental costs to meet budget targets.
- Develop business plans aligned with Sales and Distribution strategies.
- Establish distribution team goals that support the Depot business plan.
- Optimize delivery fleet size and composition to balance cost and customer service effectiveness.
- Maximize fleet utilization through optimal use of owned and contracted transport and efficient routing.
- Prepare contingency plans for vehicle or driver replacement within contracted services.
- Ensure that delivery vehicles and drivers adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret and execute delivery schedules effectively.
- Maintain product quality assurance during distribution.
- Analyze distribution performance indicators and respond appropriately.
- Ensure optimal use of company assets.
- Manage key performance areas within the distribution function.
- Leverage information systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Undertake relevant administrative responsibilities and budget management.
- Maintain a positive industrial relations environment.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Possession of a relevant three or four-year tertiary degree or diploma, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics.
- At least two years’ experience in a customer service role within FMCG supply chain or logistics.
- Valid Class B Driver's License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience or knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is advantageous.
- Understanding of customer service principles.
