At First Student, Dispatchers play a vital role in reflecting our company's dedication to safety and outstanding customer service. The Dispatcher manages bus dispatching duties, ensures routes run punctually, and provides guidance to drivers and monitors on the front lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising all bus routes and scheduling activities
• Providing coaching and counseling to drivers and monitors
• Managing substantial phone and radio communications
• Handling scheduling issues and driver complaints, reporting to Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
• Acting as the primary communication liaison with major contracted clients
• Occasionally managing charter reservations, billing processes, or driver payroll
• Offering solutions for drop-off and pick-up challenges
• Performing backup driver roles or miscellaneous clerical tasks as required
• Completing assigned special projects
• Supporting supervision of daily operations

Qualifications and Skills

• Three to five years of relevant experience
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification
• Fundamental knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Capacity to perform efficiently under strict deadlines and time pressures
• Previous experience in terminal operations, dispatching, or as a driver
• Proficient in computer use
