Job description
Overview
Honeywell is seeking a Director of Government Relations to lead the formulation and execution of its government engagement strategies. This role is critical in fostering strategic relationships with government officials, industry groups, and other key stakeholders to advocate for Honeywell's interests and influence relevant policies. The position is based in Nigeria and operates on a hybrid work schedule, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Government Relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development and promotion of legislative and regulatory initiatives across up to five US states.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on business, legislative, and regulatory issues that could impact Honeywell, recommending and managing appropriate responses.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with regulators, elected officials, civil servants, and other essential participants in the government ecosystem.
- Produce high-quality communications including recommendations, briefings, presentations, and publications tailored to government audiences to clearly convey complex information.
- Collaborate with consultants and trade association representatives to align and advance strategies supporting Honeywell's business goals.
- Lead communication efforts with Honeywell senior leadership through meetings, briefings, and strategic campaign evaluations.
- Engage actively and take leadership roles in industry associations, steering committees, and networking groups to safeguard and promote company interests.
Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years in government relations, public affairs, or related areas.
- In-depth understanding of government operations, policy frameworks, and regulatory environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and relationship management capabilities.
- Proven ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders at various organizational levels.
- Preferred qualifications include strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a bachelor's degree, capacity to manage multiple projects independently, familiarity with industry and regulatory matters, and prior experience in corporate government relations.
