Position Overview
The role of Director of Digital Strategy is integral to advancing Builders' mission by enhancing its digital presence and community engagement. This position is vital for driving social strategy, paid media, audience analysis, and platform expansion as part of the Marketing team. The director will craft and implement multi-platform strategies to deepen current community interaction and expand outreach effectively, especially focusing on channels like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where significant growth potential exists.
Responsibilities
- Lead social media strategy, crafting platform-specific approaches that reflect authentic audience behaviors and promote meaningful engagement rather than merely seeking follower counts.
- Manage and inspire the social media team to foster creativity, experimentation, and accountability.
- Design and execute a creator strategy embracing ideological diversity to amplify cross-partisan, solution-focused narratives.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive growth plan for YouTube to establish Builders as a foremost destination for civic storytelling.
- Monitor and adapt to algorithm updates, emerging formats, and cultural shifts to keep content fresh and effective.
- Oversee paid media strategies across social, search, and programmatic platforms, optimizing audience targeting, creative testing, and budget allocation.
- Collaborate with the CMO on budget planning and media mix decisions, ensuring data-driven investment choices.
- Create and manage a rigorous framework for testing campaign creatives, ensuring continual improvement.
- Supervise paid media execution with internal teams and external agencies to maintain high performance and strategic alignment.
- Continuously refine campaigns in response to live performance data, enhancing effectiveness over time.
- Serve as the lead for organizational campaign insights, developing dashboards and reporting mechanisms that track strategy implementation and outcomes across channels.
- Define and monitor KPIs relating to awareness, engagement, conversion, and audience growth, ensuring clear linkage between plans, execution, and results.
- Translate analytics into actionable recommendations for strategic adjustments and resource allocation.
- Utilize social listening tools to gauge audience sentiment, content reception, and conversation trends, informing content and outreach strategies.
- Advocate for the intelligent adoption of AI and technological innovations that improve content optimization, audience targeting, and reporting automation without replacing strategic input.
- Scout and recommend new technologies to enhance team efficiency and impact.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership including the CMO, Creative Director, and Editorial Director to integrate digital strategy with content and communications pacing.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with multiple teams and manage external partners to ensure consistent and aligned social media messaging and campaign execution.
Qualifications
- Between 7 and 10 years of proven digital strategy, growth marketing, or paid media experience demonstrating both leadership and hands-on skills.
- Expert knowledge of digital and social platforms, understanding their algorithmic, cultural, and commercial dynamics.
- Demonstrated success developing strategies that integrate organic and paid media to drive audience expansion and engagement.
- Strong analytical expertise with the ability to independently create performance frameworks, interpret data, and develop actionable strategies.
- Experience managing paid media campaigns across multiple channels including social, search, and programmatic with budget responsibility and external agency coordination.
- Outstanding communication skills capable of articulating complex data and digital trends to senior leaders.
- A keen understanding of cultural dynamics with an ability to anticipate emerging media trends and audience behavior.
- Experience operating in fast-paced, mission-focused, or startup-like environments requiring simultaneous strategy building and execution.
- A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset adept at engaging editorial, creative, and marketing teams.
- Strong passion for Builders' mission and ability to contribute strategically to a cross-partisan, solutions-driven civic initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in civic engagement, advocacy, nonprofit communications, or public affairs.
- Experience scaling digital audiences for media brands, social movements, or influential personalities.
- Familiarity with AI-enhanced marketing workflows and technologies.
