About the Role
Teza Technologies is a quantitative systematic trading firm specializing in creating strategies across various asset classes. We seek an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our infrastructure platform — the backbone systems supporting quants, developers, and traders daily. The infrastructure team is evolving from maintaining a functional platform for trading and research to enhancing its robustness, observability, and developer convenience. Your input will be vital in shaping tool choices, setting standards, and scaling systems aligned with the firm's growth.
Location
The role is based in Yerevan, Armenia, with additional opportunities available in Austin, Texas or London, UK.
Key Objectives
- Implement comprehensive observability for internal services: unified metrics, centralized logs, distributed tracing, and practical alerts to ensure engineers and traders can monitor system health and performance in real time.
- Create dependable, self-service compute orchestration systems covering Slurm for HPC/ML, Hadoop for batch processing, and Airflow for workflow scheduling to allow scalable workload execution without infrastructure limitations.
- Develop mature secrets management for credentials, API tokens, certificates, and inter-service authentication featuring rotation, auditing, and seamless deployment integration.
- Establish consistent release pipelines for diverse applications including trading strategies, data pipelines, and real-time trading systems, tailored to unique build, test, and deployment requirements.
- Maintain a strong platform foundation with reliable shared services like identity management, GitHub Actions runners, VPN, and observability tools, ensuring stability amid active trading.
- Enhance security across production and research environments through network segmentation, access restrictions, vulnerability management, and compliance adherence as part of platform evolution.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience designing and managing internal development platform services such as CI/CD pipelines, computing resources, monitoring, and developer tools, beyond just usage.
- Advanced skills in Linux system administration coupled with container orchestration expertise (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
- Thorough knowledge of software development lifecycles and how infrastructure facilitates engineering processes from development to production deployment.
- Understanding of machine learning and data-heavy workflows, including GPU scheduling, large-scale data access, experiment tracking, and reproducible environments.
- Competence in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) covering networking, Identity and Access Management, and managed services.
- Experience operating hybrid infrastructures involving cloud, on-premise, and colocation with insight into associated trade-offs.
- Programming proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages to build automation, infrastructure-as-code tools, and custom tooling beyond simple playbook execution.
- Strong grasp of core network protocols and services such as DNS, LDAP, SMTP, TLS, HTTP, and SSH.
- Solid practical experience with infrastructure security, including firewall configuration, zero-trust access models, vulnerability scans, patch management, and audit trails.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background working within trading firms or similar high-availability, low-latency environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code solutions like Terraform, Pulumi, or Ansible.
- Experience with log aggregation and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards pertinent to financial services.
Benefits
- Comprehensive health, visual, and dental insurance coverage.
- Flexible policy for sick leave.
