Data Analyst

Overview

Join Barclays as a Data Analyst, contributing significantly to managing business operations, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and process integrity within the organization. This role requires ownership of tasks aligned with regulatory frameworks and corporate conduct standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and validate operational data to underpin business reporting and guide decision-making processes.
• Create and maintain Management Information (MI) reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators to monitor operational outcomes.
• Apply advanced Excel techniques and data management practices to detect trends, assess risks, and identify opportunities for enhancing processes.
• Assist operational teams by resolving issues related to data accuracy and reporting in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting needs and deliver precise, insightful data-driven analyses.
• Support day-to-day business functions including processing, reviewing, trading, and issue resolution activities.
• Work jointly with various bank units to harmonize and coordinate operational workflows and processes.
• Identify areas needing process improvements and propose practical recommendations to enhance efficiency.
• Develop and enforce operational procedures and control measures to reduce risks and uphold effectiveness.
• Prepare reports and presentations detailing operational performance with communications to senior internal stakeholders.
• Monitor industry trends to apply banking operation best practices.
• Contribute to projects aimed at boosting operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead or support teams, managing resource allocation and fostering professional development when applicable.
• Maintain continuous improvement mindset and high standards in completing assigned tasks.
• Ensure compliance with policies and escalate issues appropriately, embedding new procedures for risk management.
• Advise on decisions within expertise areas, taking responsibility for operational risks and controls.
• Build and sustain comprehensive knowledge of functional integration, services, and organizational objectives.
• Evaluate factual data critically and resolve problems by leveraging technical experience and precedent guidance.
• Communicate complex information effectively and build networks across teams and external contacts.

Required Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities coupled with stakeholder management skills.
• Expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functions including pivots, lookups, data analysis, and automation techniques.
• Experience managing large datasets and utilizing cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar tools for data visualization and dashboard development.
• Knowledge or exposure to AI tools, analytics solutions, or automation technologies is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of risk, controls, change management, strategic thinking, and digital technologies relevant to financial services.
