Job description
Role Overview
The Maintenance Cyclic Crew Member will be a vital part of the Hawke's Bay Maintenance Team, responsible for conducting maintenance and renewal tasks throughout the region, including involvement with IDC projects. You will work outdoors with a committed team to perform essential road maintenance that ensures the safety, reliability, and usability of transport networks for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine upkeep on roads, drainage systems, signage, and roadside assets.
- Carry out minor pavement repairs such as fixing potholes, crack sealing, and edge break restoration.
- Support maintenance and construction efforts related to IDC and other infrastructure projects.
- Maintain vegetation, rest areas, and general roadside appearance.
- Safely operate small machinery, tools, and vehicles.
- Respond to incidents and participate in after-hours callouts as scheduled.
- Record completed tasks and update records using tablets and other mobile devices.
- Contribute towards fostering a safe, efficient, and high-achieving team atmosphere.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a valid Full Class 1 Driver Licence; additional qualifications such as Class 2, Class 4, or WTR endorsements are beneficial.
- Hands-on experience in civil construction, roadworks, infrastructure, or maintenance fields.
- Competence in using tools, small equipment, and vehicles safely.
- Strong time management and ability to work autonomously or collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
- Dedication to workplace health and safety and a commitment to completing tasks correctly on the first attempt.
- Positive attitude, a robust work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
