Custodial Lead

Overview

The Custodial Lead is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas and provides guidance to the custodial team under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out janitorial cleaning tasks as scheduled daily.
• Direct and assist custodial staff with their duties based on supervisor instructions.
• Support the Custodial Supervisor with staff scheduling and training activities.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Manage inventory for equipment, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
• Coordinate clean-up and maintenance activities as needed.
• Maintain the daily cleanliness and order of designated areas.
• Track and oversee cleaning supply stock levels.
• Assist with procurement of cleaning supplies and equipment in collaboration with the supervisor.
• Conduct inspections focused on quality, service standards, and safety compliance.
• Report any incidents, hazardous situations, or employee and customer issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Monitor staff compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) and correct at-risk behaviors promptly.
• Recommend corrective measures to improve operations and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a related custodial role.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license may be necessary.
• Completion of safety and task-specific training certifications is mandatory.
• Forklift certification may be required.

Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to understand and follow written instructions and procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with cleaning techniques and the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Expertise in the proper use and safety considerations of cleaning chemicals and compounds.

Physical and Work Environment

• Ability to sit, talk, and listen frequently as part of routine work duties.
• Capability to lift or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
• The role involves working in conditions typical to custodial environments with reasonable accommodations for disabilities.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Shift runs Tuesday through Saturday, from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM.
• Hourly wage ranges between $18 and $19.
