Key Responsibilities

• Lead teams investigating sensitive cases with complex issues, vague leads, scant documentation, contradictory evidence, and cross-cultural challenges.
• Examine suspected violators who employ highly organized methods, often blending illegal activities within legitimate healthcare businesses such as hospitals, nursing homes, and medical equipment providers nationwide.
• Plan, coordinate, and establish communication with Federal, State, and local authorities as well as other relevant organizations and individuals involved in investigations.
• Advise and support the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorneys during case preparation for presentation to federal, state, or local grand juries.
• Review complaints submitted to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and produce written assessments regarding the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of investigations, ensuring compliance with investigative policies and procedures.

Training and Qualification Requirements

• Completion of the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or an approved equivalent is mandatory.
• Must qualify with agency-issued firearms on the approved course and complete the Control Tactics training program.
• Failure to complete the above trainings satisfactorily will result in termination of employment.
• Applicants must be between 21 and 36 years old at the time of appointment, unless possessing prior federal law enforcement service that qualifies for an age waiver.

Specialized Experience and Eligibility

Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in federal service demonstrating the following competencies:

• Serving as an investigative team member managing criminal investigations.
• Analyzing data and supporting investigations along with handling urgent data requests.
• Investigating and addressing healthcare fraud and violations of relevant programs.
