Role Overview
This role is accountable for costing activities across all plants for vendors and customers at ACPPL. The position focuses on estimating costs for sheet metal components and supporting accurate pricing decisions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
The Costing Engineer will build detailed cost estimates from project requirements, evaluate cost data and market movement, and help ensure estimates remain realistic and commercially sound. The role also involves tracking project spend, applying cost-control methods, and updating estimates whenever scope or market conditions change.
In addition, the position requires close coordination with project managers and other stakeholders to arrive at cost-effective solutions. The engineer will prepare and examine cost reports, analyze project specifications to identify all cost elements, and support decision-making through reliable costing inputs.
Additional Duties
The job also includes reading fabrication drawings and calculating quantities, preparing Bills of Quantities for materials, consumables, and labor, and working with design and engineering teams on revisions or updates.
Further responsibilities cover preparing detailed cost breakdowns for raw material, welding, machining, and cutting; comparing actual costs against estimates during execution; spotting overruns and suggesting corrective steps; sharing cost updates with management and project teams; and coordinating with procurement and subcontractors to obtain pricing inputs.
