About the Role
Hi-Way Paving, Inc. is a prominent heavy civil contractor specializing in concrete paving, storm drainage, excavation, highways, and airfield projects in the Southeastern United States. As a Construction Recruiter, you will dedicate much of your time to sourcing talent, engaging candidates through outbound calls and interviews, documenting findings, and building a robust pipeline of skilled craft professionals including operators, mechanics, CDL drivers, concrete finishers, laborers, and field leadership.
The working environment demands versatility as hiring priorities may rapidly change, covering different roles across various projects.
Responsibilities
- Source and recruit skilled trade professionals such as operators, mechanics, concrete finishers, CDL drivers, laborers, quality control staff, and field leaders.
- Screen applications, conduct thorough phone interviews, and identify suitable candidates.
- Produce comprehensive interview notes and candidate evaluations to support hiring decisions.
- Develop and maintain talent pipelines through active sourcing, networking, referrals, and job boards.
- Manage scheduling of interviews, job offers, and pre-employment tasks.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records in Paylocity and the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Keep job listings, candidate progress, notes, and follow-up actions up to date and organized.
- Collaborate closely with the Talent Manager and hiring managers to understand staffing needs and pivot recruiting strategies accordingly.
- Create a positive experience for candidates from initial contact through onboarding.
- Support hiring events and travel to project sites occasionally as required.
Qualifications
- Preferably 3 or more years of recruitment experience, ideally within construction recruiting.
- Bilingual Spanish and English skills are strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Paylocity is highly advantageous.
- Experience operating an Applicant Tracking System.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to acquire necessary security clearances for restricted projects such as airports.
- Flexibility to travel for business needs on occasion.
