Job Overview
The Compliance Officer role in Pakistan collaborates closely with the Pakistan General Manager and senior leadership to ensure that business objectives are achieved responsibly and in full compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of compliance and risk mitigation that safeguards the integrity and reputation of the company while enabling sustainable growth.
Key Duties
- Support GSK leadership in enforcing a compliance program within Pakistan designed to detect, prevent, and resolve breaches of company policies including oversight of Commercial Practices, Anti-bribery and Corruption, and Privacy regulations.
- Work with business heads to identify, assess, and manage risks aligned with the internal control framework to encourage growth while protecting the organization.
- Coordinate internal issue reporting and escalation processes applicable to Pakistan operations.
- Collaborate with Corporate Investigations, Human Resources, and Legal departments to ensure comprehensive investigation and resolution of reported concerns, incorporating corrective measures and disciplinary actions when needed.
- Assist Internal Audit and Compliance Monitoring teams in audit preparation and compliance checks for the Pakistani business segment.
- Implement global compliance initiatives by adapting international standards and training requirements to local contexts.
- Provide strategic advice to senior managers regarding risks linked to new business strategies and suggest suitable risk mitigation tactics, ensuring adherence to company policies and protocols.
- Maintain and monitor internal controls, including management oversight and Key Risk Indicators, while ensuring compliance with all relevant programs.
- Guide the development and application of local Corrective and Preventative Actions following audits, investigations, or monitoring activities.
- Lead change initiatives aimed at simplifying compliance processes without compromising policy adherence.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Risk Management, Life Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in Compliance or Risk Management, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector; alternatively, FMCG or medical device sectors with similar compliance responsibilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of corporate governance, internal controls, and both local and international compliance legislation (e.g., anti-bribery, data privacy, commercial practice regulations).
- Proven capability to offer pragmatic compliance guidance to senior executives and collaborate across multifunctional and matrixed teams to nurture compliant operational environments.
- Strong communication skills paired with integrity, impartial judgment, discretion, and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing or supporting compliance investigations, corrective actions, and remediation efforts in cooperation with HR, Legal, and other control entities.
