The role focuses on helping shape and grow open source communities around widely used Linux-based technologies. It combines technical awareness with community leadership, requiring someone who can connect contributors, developers, and internal engineering teams while keeping community efforts aligned with broader technical plans.
In this role, you will improve contributor experiences by refining processes, communication pathways, and collaboration practices. You will work across time zones and cultures, represent community priorities internally, and help external contributors succeed in open source work with meaningful impact.

- Proven involvement in open source communities, supported by a public track record such as GitHub activity, speaking engagements, blog writing, or similar evidence.
- Good knowledge of developer workflows and tools commonly used in open source work, such as version control, CI/CD, packaging, DevOps, or containers.
- Hands-on exposure to Linux-based systems; experience with Ubuntu or similar distributions is preferred.
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities, with comfort speaking to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong planning and program management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives independently.
- Self-directed, dependable, and able to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed setup.
- Background in community management, developer advocacy, or software development is a strong advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally for in-person events and collaboration sessions.

- Annual bonus or commission opportunity tied to performance.
- Yearly compensation and performance reviews.
