Overview
The Cluster Director of Human Resources provides strategic HR partnership to multiple properties, acting as the primary HR advisor to General Managers and a mentor to HR Managers in the cluster. The role involves designing and executing strategies to attract, develop, and retain premier talent aligned with hotel and brand objectives. This position supports brand service initiatives and integrates a cohesive Human Resources Business Plan aligned with hotel, brand, and regional strategies to facilitate business success. As part of the Executive Committee, the Director plays a key role in developing and implementing hotel-wide strategies to meet and exceed customer and associate expectations, delivering strong returns on investment for owners and Marriott International.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in owners' meetings to present and interpret HR-related results such as retention rates, critical vacancies, associate satisfaction, and training outcomes, ensuring alignment with owner priorities.
- Enhance the execution of the HR Business Plan across the cluster by fostering communication, collaboration, and expert knowledge sharing.
- Drive coordinated efforts across properties to track results, resolve issues, and leverage resources for operational efficiency.
- Translate business priorities into specific HR strategies, plans, and actions at the property level, aligned with regional HR frameworks.
- Lead engagement survey planning, evaluation, resourcing, and follow-up in partnership with business and discipline leaders.
- Champion talent management initiatives that support diversity strategies across properties and regions.
- Serve as a key agent for managing change initiatives with significant employee impact.
- Monitor and encourage effective use of HR systems by managers and employees.
- Implement proactive approaches that enhance performance outcomes and cost control.
- Coordinate and participate in succession planning activities within the market when appropriate.
- Oversee quarterly visits and annual HR audits at each property to ensure compliance and alignment.
- Partner with property leadership to hire and train capable HR staff with strong expertise and leadership qualities.
- Coach and facilitate effective interviewing and selection processes, optimizing talent acquisition workflows.
- Develop staffing strategies in collaboration with hiring managers and monitor recruitment and compensation practices.
- Lead benefits communication and administration, supporting total compensation strategies for hourly employees.
- Conduct internal equity analyses quarterly and address identified issues.
- Manage employee compensation strategies, including preparation and review of internal equity and compensation ratio reports.
- Oversee implementation of recognition and incentive programs tied to property priorities.
- Collaborate with work environment managers to ensure completion of related activities and resolve issues.
- Ensure HR staff complete all responsibilities according to their job descriptions, including training on HR technology, processes, and policies.
- Provide guidance to HR staff on employee relations matters and inquiries.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a four-year bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in human resources, management operations, or relevant professional areas.
