About the Role

As a Deli Clerk at Safeway in Kenora, Ontario, you will play a vital part in offering customers fresh, ready-to-eat meals while maintaining strict food safety standards. This position involves preparing various hot and cold food items, interacting positively with customers, and ensuring displays are well-stocked and orderly. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company procedures, standards, and policies consistently.
• Greet customers courteously and provide exceptional service following Safeway's customer care programs.
• Operate cash registers handling cash, cheque, credit cards, gift cards, and debit transactions.
• Offer food samples to customers to enhance their shopping experience.
• Prepare a variety of foods including sandwiches, chicken, salads, soups, and specialty trays.
• Use commercial power equipment safely, such as slicers, fryers, and ovens.
• Manage product orders, stock rotation, and display replenishment.

Job Requirements

• No prior experience necessary.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting.
• Motivated, team-oriented individual with strong customer service skills.
• Clear oral and written communication abilities.
• Committed to working safely and responsibly.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and Sundays.
• Knowledge of meat cuts considered an asset.

Physical Demands

• Frequently standing, reaching, gripping, bending, walking, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
• Constantly lifting items weighing up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds at various heights.
• Regular use of computer and point of sale systems.
• Occasional exposure to heat and cooking exhaust.
